Frequently asked questions
How should I store my oil?
Keep it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight — a pantry or cupboard works well. Flaxseed oil is more delicate and should be refrigerated after opening. Sunflower and sesame oil can be kept at room temperature but will last longer in the fridge, especially in Florida heat.
How long does the oil last?
Once opened, most of our oils stay fresh for 2–3 months at room temperature, or longer if refrigerated. Because there are no preservatives, freshness naturally depends on storage — if it ever smells sharp, bitter, or "off" compared to when you opened it, it's time to replace it.
Is your oil refined or processed?
No. All of our oils are cold-pressed only — no heat, no chemical solvents, no refining. What you get is the oil as it comes straight from the press, filtered for sediment but otherwise untouched.
Is this oil made in a commercial kitchen?
Our oils are made under Florida's Cottage Food law, which allows certain foods to be produced in a home kitchen for direct sale, without state food-safety inspection. Every bottle is labeled accordingly. You can read more about what that means on the FDACS cottage food page.
Can I use this oil for cooking?
It depends on the oil. Sunflower and sesame oil work well for light cooking and finishing. Pumpkin seed and flaxseed oil are best used unheated — drizzled over food rather than cooked, since heat breaks down their flavor and natural compounds. Black cumin oil is typically used more like a supplement or seasoning than a cooking oil.
